Interview with Don Mills Master Planner Macklin Hancock
A Harvard University graduate, the young urban planner Macklin Hancock was selected by brewery magnate E.P. Taylor to design Don Mills, Canada's first planned community and the winner of three Massey Silver Medals and five national and 18 regional Canadian Design Awards. The City of Toronto recognizes the unique attributes of the community through the Central Don Mills Secondary Plan, and dedicated a park to Macklin Hancock in 2003. Mr. Hancock remains just as passionate today as he was in the 1950s about the ideals and concepts upon which Don Mills was based.
